Breathes fresh air into an old concept
Games like this have been done hundreds of times before, but then again, which type of game hasn't !?
The style used in this particular game is really one of the strongest points.
I loved the graphical style, and there were lots of nice original touches (like the sunglasses on the water level) which add that 'spark' to the game.
The gameplay is tried and tested, but the addition of health and enemies adds a nice twist to it, the level design was simple but smart, and the game as a whole just feels like a professional production..
Great work, can't wait to see more of your stuff!
I just beat this game on my Wii :)
It's even more challenging (and fun) pointing a wiimote around :P
Anyway, great job man, keep 'em coming..
...But the poor collision detection in Walls Mode ruined it for me.
Other modes played fine though, you did a great job :)
This game looks really good...
But I wish people would keep in mind that there are plenty of people who use azerty keyboards, and WASD-controls are really hard for them.
It made the game sort of unplayable, so perhaps you could add an option to use the arrow keys or something, that'd really increase the compatability of the game.
Don't get me wrong though, I appreciate all your hard work and I don't want to be a whiner, so you get a 4 from me :)
I can't believe everyone's claiming this is a ripoff of mario.
Sure, you collect coins and stomp on enemies, but that's where all similarities end.
It's a brilliantly original game with an arcade-ish feel to it (the rank at the end of each level was a brilliant addition).
The whole game just oozes of originality as well, from the distinct art style to the amazing music.
Don't let those guys get to you, you did a brilliant job, keep 'em coming!
Well, that and the question mark thingies you jump on. The springs are more Sonic though, aren't they? And well, the fact that my name Raitendo is a pun on Nintendo. But yeah, I don't know, I don't think I've ripped off Mario more than most other platformers. Thank you for your review!
Great job overall, this has to be the best fighting game ever made in Flash (correct me if I'm wrong here :P)
Pretty intuitive controls (even on an azerty keyboard), and awesome effects (the slo-mo effects were superb, and seeing enemies duck as one of their mates flies by is awesome).
Great job man, this is going straight in my faves!
Great great game !
The framerate was a tad slow, but with a game like this, I didn't really care ^^
The graphics and gameplay were astounding, and I loved the death animations a lot.
The sounds were great, and there are lots of modes to play.
A lot of people have been asking for cheats, so here they are :)
ownitup >> unlimited health
rockedinface >> unlimited ammo
firepower >> all weapons
runforrestrun >> speed
pwnagesince1337 >> Double Damage
savemejebus >> low friction
You're welcome ;)
Well designed, both graphically and in terms of gameplay.
One thing I'd like to point out though (I think a lot of people already suggested this, didn't read all reviews :P):
You should make real missions, instead of series of small levels.
Think about it, real missions with objectives and big areas.
Your engine is certainly good enough to do this.
One question though, how did you make those graphics ?
Is it isometric art, or did you make mini-3D models (because the main character looks like it's made in a 3D program o_0)
Anyway, well done man, looking forward to another one ;)
I stopped playing after trying level 2 three times in a row.
I clicked the guy to start playing, and I instantly failed the mission without even moving.
Your hitTests are glitchy, work on it for a while...
Concept was pretty nice though.
I especially loved the 3D-ish engine.
Like if you run to the rop, the room kind of tilts so it looks 3D..
The gameplay was really good, just like the original, and in terms of graphics, you did a great job!
Nice coding too :)
